We are closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on our recruitment activity and all aspects of the process are being kept under continual review. We will keep you informed and updated, providing as much notice as possible, where relevant.

Whilst we are doing everything we can to maintain business as usual and are supporting our colleagues to work from home where possible, we are not answering general recruitment enquiries via email or phone at this time. We do, however, continue to monitor the emails we receive, and comments on social media, so that we can answer any urgent enquiries as quickly as possible.

Candidates are advised to use the information here on the website – including our FAQs – where all aspects of eligibility and process are covered. We thank all current and future applicants for their patience and understanding during this challenging time for us all.

OUR PURPOSE

Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) officers don’t patrol the streets, they protect sites of national importance, plus everything on them and everyone in them. It’s vital, sensitive work that takes our Officers across England, Scotland and Wales in a whole range of roles, from our Marine Unit to the Dog Section, CID to Special Escort Group, and from Tactical to Central or Operational Support. MDP officers even lend their specialist skills to other police forces.

What that means is a real wealth of options for your future in the long term, whatever your background. Whether you join us as a new recruit or a new entrant from another police force, you’ll have every chance to specialise. All you need are drive and the right skills. The MDP is committed to building a diverse workforce which is represented throughout all ranks and specialisations in the Force. Females, people from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and members of the LGBT community are currently under-represented in the MDP.
